Polymeters Response International Limited (PRI) and Secure Meters Limited (SML) are the founder members of Entity, the largest metering consortium in the world. The agreement between these independent international companies is to share technology and distributions, a network that covers over thirty countries.
The consortium structure is designed to provide both strength and flexibility by sharing core technology and pooling their extensive experience of development and manufacture - delivering innovative products to customers in the fastest possible time.
PRI BACKGROUND
Polymeters Response International Ltd (PRI) are at the forefront of development, production and supply of computerised electronic meters and software. It was the first company to use microprocessors for the accurate measurement of fundamental electrical parameters - leading to the unique CALMU technology available today.
The company was formed in 1988 as a result of the merger between two companies - Polymeters Limited and the Response Company - both established in the 1980's. Polymeters had acquired the rights to CALMU and Response Company had developed products for the secondary metering market. The merger enabled PRI to establish itself as the world's most experienced solid state meter manufacturer supplying complete and innovative utility monitoring solutions world-wide.
PRI offers a large range of electronic polyphase meters with associated software applications, available for all commercial and industrial applications.
All meters are designed around CALMU technology to offer:
- flexibility - CALMU technology is fully programmable and can be manipulated to suit many tariff and non-tariff applications;
- future proofing - CALMU allows easy upgrading of software, thereby offering built in protection against obsolescence;
- connectivity - RS232 communications are included as standard, allowing CALMU meters to be integrated into a range software solutions
A range of DOS and Windows based software is designed in-house for consumption data analysis. Spreadsheet and graphic analysis are included as standard features to facilitate continuous energy auditing. PRI’s software facilities can be supported by either telephone or power line based communications. Whilst the meters produced are specifically for electricity, the communications and data analysis software is applicable to either water, gas, electricity or combinations.
The market for PRI products is split between the ESI ( Electricity Supply Industry ) and the industrial and commercial market for secondary metering solutions. Tenant billing, cost centre accounting, monitoring and targeting, tariff analysis, process and plant performance monitoring and check metering are just some of the applications of intelligent metering.
PRI is now one of the largest manufacturers of secondary meters in the UK, supplying product to a wide range of well known commercial, industrial and public organisations.
SML BACKGROUND
Secure Meters Ltd.(SML) established in 1988 , is a customer driven company focused on providing measurement and computing solutions to the power sector. The Secure Energy Metering Systems (SEMS) and the various other metering products offer a wide range of metering solutions. Our solid state metering technology delivers products with the highest standards of accuracy, reliability and anti-tamper capabilities, which can be easily integrated into energy management systems of utilities, independent power producers, commercial establishments and diverse industry segments.
Secure Meters has two modern ISO 9000 certified manufacturing facilities in India which constitute the largest installed base of electronic meters in India. SML's comprehensive product portfolio includes electronic energy meters for industrial, commercial, domestic and grid metering.The maximum demand controllers from SML forewarn consumers of maximum demand crossover and takes corrective measures by automatically disconnecting the load to a pre defined priority sequence. The Accuchek range of on-site calibrators is rugged and portable and provides convenient on site testing of electricity meters. Our automatic/semi automatic test benches offer convenience for the testing of single phase/polyphase electronic and electromechanical electricity meters. SML's new generation energy management software for energy management audits, load monitoring / planning, route accounting, dispensing applications and remote meter reading are all directed to integrate metering into the central information systems of the utilities.
